For more than 25 years, our hospital has specialized in diagnosing and treating sports‑related vascular problems. If a surgical treatment is appropriate, several techniques are available, each tailored to the specific type of abnormality. In some cases, different techniques may be combined, depending on the nature of the condition.
Release procedure
If the vessel is not damaged and the problem is caused solely by a kinking artery, we may decide to free the vessel and reposition it so that it no longer bends or becomes compressed.
Shortening
In some cases, the vessel may increase in length due to intensive sporting activity. When this happens, it is sometimes possible to shorten the vessel so that it returns to a normal length.
Complete vascular reconstruction with venous patch
If the artery is damaged and narrowed, a section of vein from the upper leg can be used to create a patch. After the affected artery segment is “cleaned” and the scar tissue is removed, the vein patch is sutured into the artery to restore proper blood flow.

U heeft een verwijzing nodig vanuit uw huisarts of vanuit een ander medisch specialisme. Uw zorg wordt vergoed vanuit de basisverzekering.
Accepteert mijn zorgverzekeraar onze zorg?
Zeer waarschijnlijk wel. Echter zijn er uitzonderingen, het is altijd raadzaam om uw verzekering te contacteren of onze zorg wordt vergoed.
